Hamish Carr 1936-2013
The whole community is saddened by the death of Hamish Carr. Hamish Carr, was baptised in The South Church, Abernyte, when he was 5 weeks old. He attended Sunday School, progressed to Youth Fellow-ship and was “bull dozed” into the Church Choir.  After marriage and a family, his commitment to The Church of Scotland continued and he undertook a wide range of positions in Abernyte - Board Member, Treasurer, Elder, Presbytery Elder and Session Clerk. Within the Dundee Presbytery he was a respected Convenor of Fabric Property for many years. He described himself as a “notorious member of Presbytery”, and was always inspired by his Christian beliefs.
As a skilled joiner with much experience and knowledge of the building trade, he ensured that Abernyte Church lived up to its reputation as “one of the most beautiful small churches in Scotland”, and a living Church, with a lively congregation. Hamish was able to communicate with all ages and social classes and had an instinctive desire to help those in need.
Throughout his life he thanked God for his healthy loving family and our condolences go out to them at this time. The Service in Abernyte Church was a fitting memorial to his Life and Faith.
A generous donation was gifted to CHAS.
