We have not been seeing the Squirrels for the last couple of weeks and I wondered if anyone else has been seeing them around the village. Ron spotted one up at Whitehills Den recnetly. However plenty of birds around. There was a big party of mixed Chaffinches, Yellowhammers and a few Reed Buntings feeding on the stubble field behind our house. They are certainly appreciating the wide unploughed strip around the edge, and the stubble fields further up are great for the birds as well as for walking. There were also some Reed Buntings (very smart) behind Gordon and Norma's stable yesterday (1st Feb 2021). The Reed Buntings are not often in Abernyte but they turn up in hard weather.
This week we have had Siskins returning to the garden bird feeders after a long absence. This seems to have happened in other years as well. Lovely delicate little yellow birds and the males have a darker cap.
