Thanks Stephen! The snowdrops in the burn by Southfield Bridge and the ones at Whitehills Den are also coming out now. Those in the shade or facing North are still only green.

We have not been seeing the Squirrels for the last couple of weeks and I wondered if anyone else has been seeing them around the village.  Ron spotted one up at Whitehills Den recnetly.  However plenty of birds around.  There was a big party of mixed Chaffinches, Yellowhammers and a few Reed Buntings feeding on the stubble field behind our house.  They are certainly appreciating the wide unploughed  strip around the edge, and the stubble fields further up are great for the birds as well as for walking.  There were also some Reed Buntings (very smart) behind Gordon and Norma's stable yesterday (1st Feb 2021).  The Reed Buntings are not often in Abernyte but they turn up in hard weather.

This week we have had Siskins returning to the garden bird feeders after a long absence.  This seems to have happened in other years as well.  Lovely delicate little yellow birds and the males have a darker cap.

Spring must be progressing as we saw several honeybees visiting Snowdrops, Aconites and Crocuses yesterday and today 22nd February 2021. A queen wasp also awake outside our front window yesterday!  I have not seen a bumblebee yet.
Yesterday the temperature was up to 10.5 deg C.

Yes Norma and I spotted honey bees foraging on snowdrops on the verge at the Manse on 22nd and we heard Oystercatchers over the garden last night. Spring is upon us!
