Another report from KInnaird - chiffchaffs heard there on Monday 30th March 2020, also the Great spotted woodpecker drumming in Kinnaird and Abernyte. And a sighting of a butterfly at Hillhouse, although it flew away rapidly and Diana could not see what the species was.

An exciting sighting from two differnt Abernytians from both ends of the village. They both had a good view of a Red Kite. Not commonly seen around here but they are spreading from the re-introduction site near Doune.

Another sighting of a Red Kite, this time on 4th April from Grant and Nikki at Ballindean. Grant also notes that he hass been seeing Magpies around in their area, as they are in Abernyte. Jessie tells us that she saw one in her garden this week and other people have been hearing one around the village.

Thanks to your butterfly guide of Tayside and Fife we noted an Orange-tip feed in our aubrieta on 8th April in Abernyte

Good to hear that the Orange Tip has been seen already. One of our favourites, it lays eggs on the cuckoo flowers that are coming out.

Good News!
Linda reported seeing House Martins for the first time this year near East Newton on Tuesday 14th April. Last year she first spotted them on 5th April. Has anyone else seen them in and around Abernyte?

Also, there was a male Blackcap singing on the Glebe on the 11th April Plenty of Peacock and Small Tortoiseshell butterflies out yesterday which must have been our warmest day this year at 19 degrees C. Has anyone seen the Comma?
