Linda at East Newton has seen a House Martin on 5th April at 18:21 hours. Great news. We were also told that Nicholas has seen Sand Martin on the coast, and we have a report of one swallow seen in Monifieth. Despite being just back from several days in Yorkshire, did not see either Swallow or House Martin down there.

Should have said, the butterfly in Abernyte Church was a Small Tortoiseshell!

We have been seeing the odd Swallow around, but good to see they are being spotted a bit more frequently this weekend, Saturday/Sunday 5th & 6th May. . .

Hedgehogs are also out, we saw one on the road on the Kinnaird brae, by Guardswell when returning from Perth about 10 pm on night of 2nd April 2019 and more recently - end of April - we have spotted some hoggy droppings in the garden. These are narrow and very black so easily recognisable.

Jessie was very excited when she heard the Cuckoo up beyond the church. close to Rossie Estate today, 4th June 2019. A Cuckoo has also been heard by Denise calling from Rossie direction.
