Willow Warbler was seen in Kinnaird last week and Yellowhammer heard along the Kinnaird / Abernyte road this morning.

House Martins seen at Hillhouse on Tuesday 19th April , also at Tullach Ard on the 20th and one Swallow sighted there (Hillhouse) yesterday, 21st April . Also Diana most excited to see a Red Squirrel in her garden a this morning, 22nd April..

Well I'm willing to believe that one swallow and several House Martins make a summer.

Thanks to Diana and Andrew Tosh for that news.

Having seen Swallows down on the Carse several times now I have finally saw my first Abernyte Swallow this evening. I hope that it is soon joined by many others.

Lucky inhabitants of Kinnaird (Trefor and Jane) heard the Cuckoo. on the hill there on Tuesday afternoon (3rd May).

Anyone else heard a cuckoo yet?

Just as it was getting dark last night I was excited to hear a new bird for Abernyte. I first heard a call barely audible above the hum of traffic noise from the A90, then a much louder trisyllabic repetitive call, often described as 'wet-my lips'. You can hear the call and see what Quail looks like here.

I have seen my first Swifts of the year today, a screaming party of 3 flying over Rait.
