Val in Inchture has sent news of a "Hitchcockian event of murder, pecking and gouging" in her neighbour's garden. This involved crows but not sure exactly what was going on. However it was followed by a crow pecking on the window at 5am. We sympathize as we had an errant crow that behaved like that on our window a number of years ago. It only seemed to happen in the nesting season so perhaps it was trying to get in.

We were surprised to discover two swallows prospecting for a new nesting site inside the front door when we left the door open last weekend. That would have been a bit awkward if they had started to build there! .

News from Trefor in Kinnaird

"We heard the first cuckoo calling at Kinnaird on the afternoon of Thursday, May 7th, (General Election polling day). The sound came from the hillside North west of Kinnaird (towards Fingask) and we heard it fairly often for about 2 weeks.

House martins and spotted flycatcher were late returning to upper Kinnaird this year, finally settling in on Sunday, 24th May."
