Bramblings are around was created by Hamish Carr
We saw several Bramblings on and under our niger feeder yesterday 9/1/2010. These finches look rather like chaffinches and often associate with them. However they have a white rump which is obvious when they fly. Their colour is rusty red rather than pink and the red colour is on the breast shoulder & wingbar. Apparently they are particularly keen on beechmast, but come to feeders when it is in short supply.

Yesterday (14/01/2010) we saw a single male feeding below our feeders but he only stayed for a few minutes. This is the first time we have seen them in the garden.
