Today the Perth and Kinross Planning Committee threw out the application to build seven houses on the site of Abernyte Farm. The committee agreed with the residents who responded that the application's problems with inadequate foul and surface water drainage and the need to relocate the Kinnaird water main was caused by too many large houses being squeezed into too small a space. They also agreed that the scale of the development would have an adverse impact on a small rural community.
Perhaps now the residents of Abernyte can influence what will be built on such a key site instead of a developer whose only interest in Abernyte extends to the profit they can exploit from the area.

Today the Scottish Executive Planning Reporter annouced that she had rejected the application be Drumbow Homes for seven houses on the site of Abernyte Farm. Perhaps now we can have a more sympathetic application for this site that enhances the village.
